DISTANT WORLDS is an exciting new science-fiction universe, created by Ryan Thomas Riddle.
A brand-new galaxy of space adventures that follows the competition between a Filipino starship officer and his former lover, an alien from a volatile world, for command of the first deep-space exploration cruiser. They will voyage to all the distant worlds and discover love in the most impossible of places — the depths of outer space.
This independent publication, launched in June 2025, shares Ryan's journey to create a new paradigm in science fiction media. His goal: rocket space opera into space house with some sick beats using his brand of Filipino Futurism.

About Ryan Thomas Riddle
Ryan is an award-winning journalist and screenwriter. He's won three San Francisco Peninsula Press Awards for his investigative journalism. His STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS spec was an Austin Film Festival 2023 Finalist. STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION actress Gates McFadden challenged him on social media to write a script centered on Dr. Beverly Crusher. The result was STAR TREK: OATH, which was the most downloaded script of THE STUNT LIST 2024.
BABYLON 5 Creator J. Michael Straczynski praised Ryan's short "Wild Hearts Run Outta Time" as a flawless story.
Ryan is one half of the SHIP FULL OF JERKS podcast, which he co-hosts with his beastie writer/artist Mark Farinas, creator of the hit animated short "Klingon Propaganda."
As a proud Fil-Am queer, Ryan's stories often feature queer and Filipinx characters in a variety of genre stories. Him and award-winning comic writer Hannibal Tabu are developing several works for audio, TV, and Film.
