Spirk it to me!

Last week, STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS wrapped up its third season, which percolates the early formation of Kirk and Spock's bromance. The finale brings it to a boil.
For plot reasons, both the Enterprise and Kirk's ship, the Farragut, must fire their phaser like a pair of synchronized swimmers. So Spock suggests that he and Kirk, Esther Williams via mind meld. It gets so spicy and steamy between them that even Lt. Ortegas throws "just get a room" eyes.
Spock may be working his way through the female population of the Enterprise right now, but Erica knows what up. Sorry, La'An, like a calendar, your days are numbered. Spock's found his true Space Boo.
To be honest, I wasn't expecting SNW to Spirk this hard. And it did. [Insert inappropriate sexual innuendo of your choice here.]
Paul Wesley (Kirk) is a huge proponent of the concept, as he mentions it in nearly every interview he does. But how Spirk will the show go in the coming season, or if the producers do get a greenlight for their spin-off STAR TREK: YEAR ONE?
Because there is plenty of time to explore between Kirk's first day in the chair to his first canon appearance in "Where No Man Has Gone Before," according to The Making of STAR TREK. The book's biography of Kirk states he's been in command for four years already. In the second pilot, Dr. Dehner says Spock and Kirk have served with mutated Gary Mitchell for years, suggesting that they've all been on the Enterprise for quite some time already.
So perhaps in that time, we could see an attempt at something more than friendship, only for it to be abandoned by the time we meet them in the second pilot.
Call it... STAR TREK: SPIRK BEGINS!
Yeah, I know. Probably not. But a queer Trekkie can dream.
In the meantime, I'll keep plugging away at my own queer space adventure love story — DISTANT WORLDS.
